Hemstitching
Hemstitching is an artistic form of 'drawn work' and as such can only be incorporated into fabrics that have threads which can be easily drawn. Linens free from dressings will produce excellent results. In cases where linen may not be that soft, the drawing threads can still be facilitated by pressing linens between two moist cloths and then drying it through tension. Hemstitching is a beautiful art that originated from the early 1900s that popularized delicate crocheted lace around table cloths, handkerchiefs, bed linens and wardrobes.
Hemstitching is a hand sewing technique that is used even while the cloth is still on the loom. It is best done when the warp is under tension. There are a lot of weavers who would prefer to do it under tension because the stitch just cuts off once it is off the loom. They may cut off or ignore the stitches later depending on how the edge appears like once the fabric is complete.
Regal originals features only hemstitched items that are crafted slowly for best quality. In hemstitching, the working thread used should be so fine that as soon as work gets completed, the stitches will appear almost invisible. Linen thread is commonly used but cotton thread is usually preferred over it because of its finer size. This makes the work more convenient and easier for weavers. Hemstitching is a good hobby for mothers and even grandmothers. But in the case of urgent need, you can always seek for professional hemstitching services.
