Faggoting

Faggoting usually involves patterned rows that are yarned over. Faggoting is actually a variation of lace knitting where each stitch is decreased or yarned over. There are a few types of faggoting but all of them are usually open lace, very similar to that of netting. And just like most lacey fabrics, faggoting has minimal structural strength and may deform easily but it does have little tendency to curl up despite of its asymmetry. Faggoting is open and stretchy and most of faggoting stitches may look similar on both sides making them ideal for garments such as stocking and lacy scarves. Faggoting is also a type of cross stitch used in making open and decorative joints between two fabric edges.

Faggoting is the genre of lace that is among the easiest for novice lace knitters to get involved in. some of the patterns, such as the Feather faggoting, are single repeated rows, while others such as the Garter stitch faggoting, have patterned and 'rest' rows. Among the most popular faggoting designs include purse stitch and Turkish stitch.

Faggoting is a lacy knitting stitch that increases and decreases in every row. Various types of increases and decreases have been utilized to come up with unique patterns. Among the basic form of faggoting stitches is the Turkish stitch which is a combination of yarn overs and knit-two togethers for a lacy and elastic fabric. Faggoting is beautiful and useful as well. It is utilized in joining two pieces of fabrics or materials with the use of an insertion stitch. Victorian women often used this type of stitch on their lingerie. Cotton, satin, silk and linen are most suitable for this kind of needle work. But there are also thicker materials that are faggoted together, although done rarely.
